Final task

 

 

Writing to Describe: Describe a place using poetic techniques that you have studied from the poem.  You should aim to write about 100-150 words in approximately three paragraphs.

 

You can choose from one of the following four options or you can make up your own idea. 

¡¤        An isolated place;

¡¤        A derelict house;

¡¤        A tumbledown shack;

¡¤        An opening to a forest.

 

You should try and use the following techniques in your writing:

¡¤        Simile;

¡¤        Metaphor;

¡¤        Alliteration;

¡¤        Onomatopoeia;

¡¤        Personification;

¡¤        Adjectives.

 

Here are some sentence starters to help you.  You do not have to choose these:

 

The old house loomed out of the blackness like a dark thundercloud.

 

The derelict shack showed signs of major neglect.  Its gaping jaws looked as if they were about to bite whoever ventured inside.

 

At the opening to the forest, many sounds were obvious.  One such sound was the cracking and splitting of twigs and branches, just like hungry predators were treading on them.
